About fencing

Beginner's guide

“Fencing is a school of humility and develops speed, perfect control of the body, balance, beauty and strong grace. It should be recommended to everyone wanting to master their feelings and actions during their lifetime. Through this art they will think clearly and act always with style in their decisions."

Fencing Stretches

Jessica Ryan, Salle Dublin physio, has designed a series of preliminary warm-up stretches for fencers - click here.

Salle Dublin was founded in 2005 by Maître David Couper and Maître Fionbarr Farrell.  It is the first Salle d'Armes to be established in Ireland in over fifty years.

Our mission is to take Irish fencing to another level of excellence with a strong emphasis on individual development, personal lessons and value for money.

All levels welcome - from beginners to elite athletes, from serious competitors to those who simply want to keep fit in an interesting and rewarding way.

Maître Fionbarr Farrell has been appointed Sports Ambassador for 2010. Click here for more information.
